Heard a rumour today that Opal Marine in Chichester Marina have gone into Liquidation.

Does anyone know if this rumour is true and, if so, how can I find out who the Administrator is?

Their website is off but nothing yet on my credit checking portal or companies house. If you are nearby I would see if anything is posted on the door.

I went down there today -- there is no note on the door, but all the computer equipment, phones etc have been removed and everything else packed into boxes. Certainly looks closed to me. Frustrating because they have (had) a boat for sale that I wanted.

Office empty

I went down at the weekend (Chichester Marina) after failing to make contact and the office is empty. Cleared desks and no adverts on the windows any more. Looks like they have gone.

This is the same for me, as I am interested in a boat they had for sale.

I phoned Premier Chichester Marina today to see if they had any news, but all they would tell me was Opal Marine were no longer trading.

Does anyone know how I can find out who the Adminstrator is?

Which boat was it?

I wanted to look at the Maxum called Rocket, pretty sure it was on brokerage but I've not been able to track down its owners to enquire about it privately.

I guess a major question is whether the boat you're looking at is either brokerage or a stock boat. If brokerage, I'm sure it'll reappear listed elsewhere soon enough, if it's a stock boat, it's an asset of the company which will complicate things (or make it a REAL bargain if the receiver's looking to liquidate the assets quickly ;))

Boat I was interested in was a new Beneteau Antares 6.80 stock boat.

The new one - on the hard - has a sold sign on it; sign has the name/phone number of person managing it

Many thanks for this info.........if anyone is in Chichester Marina that could kindly make a note of the name/phone number of the person from the sign on this Beneteau Antares 6.80, and send it to me, that would be very much appreciated. :encouragement:

Once I drag my sorry ass out of the Boathouse Caff then I'll make a note and PM you

Interesting reading!

Mr Kanthan said part of the problem was outside contractors - including engineers - being allowed on site to work on yachts.'They did not have our overheads and therefore were able to undercut us.'

He also said business was impacted when other brokerage companies started to operate from the Premier Marina in West Sussex.

He seems to be saying 'how dare people compete with us'.
