Oostende Vor Anker

I think it is a mizzen staysail, it gets used a lot, the light weight Genoa rather less. Normally we use the kite but, from memory, the crew were a little bit hungover when this was taken off of Dunkirk and were not keen to do much....!

I shall be cruising all of about zero feet that weekend as it;s the Fambridge River Festival and I'm part of the entertainment. Pity in a way as Jane and I are on board from Thursday for 12 days and would have maybe been up for Oostende

Mercator is solely for participating boats (ie on show) for the voor Anker weekend. It's the Montgomery Dok or RYCO for the plebiscite. Fine berth - although a gusty NWly can still make it a bouncy place to be - chaffed through a couple of lines in one night there a couple of years back...

Hi there, my boat is on the list, and has a photo on the website, but Hubert hasn't sent me a letter with the joining instructions. Have you all received your letters?
(PS if you like old gaffers etc you can PM me and I will tell you, what one she is.)

All welcome.

Got to be a bit discreet, had a bit of a difference of opinion with a couple of local hopefuls. I
hope to meet Mr Van Hoorn,
"sorry I didnt hear you ROBERT... are you deaf you British bar steward ;)

No I have two prisoners for you sir.

Why didnt you just kill them and job done?"

Ha ha proper character ;)

Sadly Robert has been replaced, some 2 yrs ago, Simon the new HM is ok but thats it ok.
Plebs dont get letters

Weather permitting, Cirrus will take her place in the Mercator dock. I'll be aiming to arrive on the Tuesday. Sailorman will visit for beers, hopefully.

For those that haven't been before, this event is a 'must'. There's something for everythone, it runs for four days and there's a lot to see and do. The organisers do a fantastic job and exhibitors are well looked after.

The package normally arrives during April. They will ask you to advise them of your intended arrival time.
