Having (at last) bought (committed to French Leasehold) a mooring nr Cannes. I have today made an offer for a 40 footer which resides in those Strange Spanish Balearic Islands. Methinks my offfer will be accepted.

Although I've got RYA quals coming out of the proverbial, my practical i/c experience is somewhat lacking (hence nom de plume).

Bottom line - Is there anyone out there who fancies doing a ferry journey (3 days?) with me (and possibly SHWNBO) from Mallorca to Cannes in early September.

Following experience mandatory :

- Knowing where to aim 'Pointy Bit'
- Knowing how to switch on engine(s) - there r 2??
- High alcohol consumption
- Having done this several times before
- Ability to 'Stay Karm' whilst all around attempt to relive 'Titanic'

Why? I'm not writing cheques ?

ooh i can help. 40 footer shd go barcelona and hop along eastwards, golfe de lion permitting.

1) pointy bit normally goes first. You need all the covers up else it'll get v salty. I have nice garmin 175 which has made the trip (with me) three times (and hopefully by end august four times)

2) yes, the engines will need switching on. It's important to check the engines, so that you are certain if there are 2 or just 1.

3) vast experience in this area.

4) yes yes.

5) have no violin.


Seriously, you mainly need a liferaft and lifejackets. If boat is from majorca, use 0034 696 920 664 for Peter of Expresslube based near Palma who is fine chap, english, will make sure the boat is in decent order re engines, which re the main important thing. Indeed, he may be a handy contact before you part company with the dosh.

Not seriously, my usual rates will apply = alcohol as above PLUS you not laughing at my crap sunhat. Possibly some mars bars or other food, although if there is enough beer then this isn't very important.
