One step back in boat buying

Went for a drive round and bought it……..why is boat buying so difficult?
A bad workman always blames his tools. There will be a boat that suits all your needs but you have to view lots of unsuitable one until you find the one. Just remember every boat is a compromise of what you can buy and what you want. So maybe the problem is the boat buyer, not the boats.

Well you are the "very trying" buyer. How many years have you been trying to buy a boat, it been so long I cannot remember.
A westerly centaur popped up today in Coruna for sale….awaiting an email….the Benetaeu is still under consideration Butthe keel problem has to be resolved

A Westerly Centaur would certainly suit you and being a British built boat in Portugal will probably mean it would be a keener price.

Have a look at this web site for lots of information about the Centaur so you know what to look for when you view.

Take a hammer to the Piggy Bank on a nice sunny day, hop in the car and drive around the Boat Yards. Suddenly, Ran the Sea Goddess will stab you with her Trident and you will see a boat and be smitten there and then. Problem solved. Skint but happy.
I was looking for another steel boat, probably something hard chine and a bit ugly, then I saw this..:love:E Star.jpg

Free Nicholson 27 on Gumtree right now. Looks pretty good (to me). Very roomy for the length (though I havnt seen the headroom specified) and a nice long skeg protecting the rudder, which my Trident 24 lacks

Edit: Maybe not really protecting, since the rudder projects below the skeg. Supporting though.

If I was currently in The Yook and didn't already have a boat I would certainly be interested.

I knew an osteopath who called Mondays…IKEA Monday…because of all the patients coming in with injuries due to man handling flat packs to and from their car

Reminds me of a condition that a French physio friend of mine described to me, which he often has to treat.

Lovers ankles - where the patient has broken or sprained an ankle after jumping from a first floor window when their lover’s partner has returned home unexpectedly.

That didn’t happen my way….too many tower blocks

I'm really surprised that anyone (who is not flat broke... and even then) can find it difficult to buy a boat. Boats for sale sing like sirens, imperilling the mariner, but the lyrics are always "buy me, I represent your dreams". I've found I can resist this while I own one and remain boat-monogamous, but only by being extravagant to the one I have.

Buying a boat usually brings joy. It's what they're for. Best just to buy one and sail the hell out of it.
