One for Volvo Paul or spanner man ! Kad 42 aftercooler.

Just a quick one, my after cooler end cap has been leaking boost ( end cap directly bolted to cooler with 4xbolts & connect's directly to turbo pipe )

I have been through the manual and a quick look on line but can't find anything, there was no gasket on the end cap, so I want to know are they a face fit with gasket maker or should they have a gasket ???

Not too sure which part you mean, as I just looked in the manual and the part going to the turbo has around 12-14 bolts securing it, its a plastic moulding with. 90 degree bend going to the turbo. The manual says it shouldn't be removed as its sealed with a hard glue like sealer. Are you sure its leaking there or is it a crack? Volvo specify Loctite 574 for joints without a gasket on the air inlet system.

They all leak in later years and there a bugger to pull off . Clean up and use a sealant not silicon. No gasket in parts list .
