Baz, there is one similar to this in our boatyard. Not sure if it is petrol or diesel, but definitely V*lv* and I have seen the V*lv* engineer in servicing it. I thought it was going up for sale at the end of the season. I'll check when I get home if you like.

Yes, that's the one, twin Mer 4.3s with Alpha legs - although as Goeff says would be nice with twin D120s. I can give you more info, including copy of previous sales details, so if you are interested just PM me.

Re: One for Byron, or anyone else in the \"know\"

This post almost slipped me by!

Having experienced the brilliant performance from the D120 myself, and read numerouse rave reviews on the net, perhaps it does all sound too good to be true. But why not?

I wondered about long term reliability myself, it does seem an obvious potential pitfall of getting a 'quart out of a pint pot'.

However they've been selling lots of D120's for a good two and a half years now, and I've NEVER found any bad press about them, and NEVER read of any complaints or brakedowns, even when doing comprehensive searches on mercruisers own technical forum. Compare that with Volvo etc.

Perhaps they won't chug away as long as a Perkins 4108, but your not exactly comparing apples and apples, and who's to say they won't anyway?

The best part is they're excellent value for money, parts are not silly prices, many spares are available from your Vaux/Isuzu dealer. It uses the bread and butter Alpha leg, so it's easy to service and very much a known quantity.

If anyone is seriously thinking about installing D120's, come and have a go on mine.

I've looked at that one. Its,......umm, messy. Needs a bit of work to it. Nothing major just a few little tidying jobs. Engines in it are well looked after. For 25 footers they're massive down below. Twin cabinas well. Helm position is unusual.

Oh and in the flesh, it looks like a battle ship!

I know its not that one unless you've moved to just down the road by me. The one by you, do you know anything about it. Is it in the usual grey gel coat. I'd be interested if it goes up for sale. They're well built boats, good hulls on them. People seem to ask silly prices for them. That one there has been dropped in price a couple of times to its present level.

If thats the one at NYA Brundall, then yes. It'll be fun taking it round the coast to the Frome if nothing else!
