One for Byron, or anyone else in the \"know\"

Info on a Beluga 24 ft fast cruiser. Built in the late 80's. What are they like, how well built, hull any good. What sort of money should they go for. Any info appreciated.

Yep thats the one. Quite liked the idea of the deep cockpit with the ankle biters. 2 cabins apparently.
Whats 25,900 euro's in proper beer tokens. Looks rather nice, pity about the BMW petrol lump in it though!

Hmm, theres one a NYA Brundel for a lot less than that. I 'spose a lot will depend on condition, etc etc.
Ok back to the drawing board. Now where did I see that sunseeker......................

No yer not Barry - sunseeker, we did that, nice finish, but underneath? Here's an analogy for you. She looked gorgeous, she shone above the rest, she "performed" - but for how long? You woke up in the morning, the slap was off, and what was revealed?

Wanted loads of money spent on her, the more you spend the more she needs - can you afford to trade her in? Oh no, cos you spent too much money already, so you have to keep investing, and so it goes on and on and on ............................

Was it, is it. Not actually looked at it yet. Do you know something that I don't?

Ah yes but at the same yard is this. There's also another one at Cobb's with a smaller engine option. I like V8's, but 7.4 litres is a hell of a lot of engine to run. I don't mind petrol, but still want to be able to use ity without worrying!

I know this one, Barry, usually park my car next to it. I'm afraid it's not as good as it looks in the photo, but I suppose you've got to look. Outdrives in bits at the moment, maybe a good thing if they're being done up.

So the Sunseeker is driveless at the moment. Thanks for that, I'll give that one a wide berth then. Tell me. do you know if the Draco was looked after by a certain engineer that we both mutually know. The one that suggested you to keep running with a leaky oil seal 'till you hauled out.

No, don't know who looked after the Draco, but certainly looks a better cared for boat.

Never saw the gentleman you refer to working on it.

Put a D120 in it, and you'll chug along economically./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Get the Sunseeker cheap enough and put a couple of D120's in, that'd be good. Heard a dealer at SIBS offering someone a pair of D120's for 12 grand. Said I could have one for 7.

Re: One for Byron, or anyone else in the \"know\"

Nah bugger D120's. Everybodypeeps have been raving about them. Lets see how long they last before faults start raising their heads. If I was going to convert it to diesel, I'd stick a couple of Puma's in it. More horses, bigger capacity better torque.
I don't reckon that those Astra lumps are all they're cracked up to be!

Re: One for Byron, or anyone else in the \"know\"

They are a bit more than just Astra lumps. OK Isuzu based, but different crankshaft, beefed up mains, bigger turbo etc. etc. But yes, only time will tell how they last.

Pumas, more horses, more capacity, more torque........and more weight!

As the yanks say "There ain't no substitute for cube's".
There's been some glowing reports about the 120's. But something says not is all smooth sailing, so to speak. Hope I'm wrong. You thinking of putting one in yours then?
