Or anyone interested in vessels for cold places :)
Lift out these days, while in the harbour I saw this brand new vessel ''Tara Polar Station'', Tara being a foundation already having an environmental research sailboat. Ellyptical plan shape almost circular, I thought it should be lifted with a crane on a ship and placed somewhere but no, it actually moves autonomously, she even has two anchors :) . The dinghy is oddily in the middle of the bow.

Interesting idea. Same principle as Nansen's Fram, but without independent propulsion. It's obviously designed to ride up over the ice as it forms and pressure builds up in the pack.
Just curious in terms of architecture for humans: it says about 18 people will drift and live inside that vessel for up to 18 months, many will be scientists so probably not used to prolonged life in confined space like say a merchant seaman: do the interiors (of that vessel or any polar station) take into account the human factor, or it s just 18 tiny cabins and when one is awake he is immediately and constantly in the middle of all the other people? After so many months I reckon there could be blood on the windows :D

18 cabins for 18 people - some might think you are mistaking a boat for the Ritz :)
Even 18 bunks would seem luxury for many

I don't think it's really about comfort. It's more that, from what I've read of Arctic Exploration, there's a very real danger they will hate each other by the end of 18 months living in close quarters. The poster was wondering if there was some design effort towards avoiding them killing each other over a dispute about spoons....

Remember that it's not a boat. There will be opportunities for people to spend time alone on the ice, if they wish. Team sports on the ice are also a resource often used in situations like this.
Yes when iced up it won’t act as a boat. But it does seem to have its own engines/ propulsion rudder etc to take itself to the Artic station and return afterwards. Accommodation looks pretty spacious / luxury also.
