When you've had a pee you should give it 10 pumps for every metre of discharge pipe length. Don't leave it lieing in the pipe. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That would be 80 pumps for my forward heads.... no way anyone is going to do that. i heard it was a couple of pumps per metre, which seems to make sense, given the size of the hose and the size of the pump chamber in the loo, (Jabsco).

??? out??

What would you do with a Lavac which, IIRC, relies on a vacuum - 80 pumps might suck the contents of the boat

On our previous boat the rule was 20 pumps. The hose was about 1.5 meters.

Now I know why we never had any scale deposits in over 15 years !!!!

Thought for a moment that we somehow didn't offload urea!!!

This thread confirms that we should continue the 20-pump rule -- the new boat has about the same length of hose, into a holding tank.

The current version of the Jabsco manual that is online at the jabsco website recomends 7 pumps per metre. I have heard several folk curse long pipe runs in boats for this reason ( one guy was a charter manager who rues having to remove long , inaccessible piping on a regular basis). I put up a notice in my heads stating the number of pumps everyone should use!
