I've been sorting out some old stuff, and come across a set of drawings torn out of old Yachting World Magazines, from the late 1950's and early 1960's'

Judging by the dates, I must have save these when I was a youngster dreaming of owning a yacht!

These are roughly A3 size and I'm happy to scan any the Forum members would like a copy of "for their own research and use".

I thought some of this "history of design" might interest member of the forum, and some of the yachts may even still be sailing.

I'd also be happy to post the set to someone or organisation who is or are set-up to look after and store old yachting designs and think that this incomplete set of pull-out from Yachting World might be useful.

Yes, I thought about Copyright, That's why I used the phrase "for their own research and use".

I wasn't planning wholesale distribution, more if someone recognised the design, or even owned one of the designs, they might appreciate a copy of the original magazine article and line drawings.

I guess having rediscovered them after such a long time, I didn't want to just throw them away.

How about here:

http://www.classicboatmuseum.org

Edit: all the Cheverton papers are stored there. Oh and if you find a Caravel MK2 I'd love to see.
Some years ago I wrote to the Classic Boat Museum offering to send them (f.o.c. of course) a complete folio of construction, rig and sail plans for the wooden Folkboat. My letter was not answered and when I telephoned the museum the lady I spoke to showed no interest at all in having them. In the end I gave them to someone on this forum.

All the Robert Clark archives are held by the maritime museum in Greenwich. Acessible for a fee.

Donald

There's ('is' or 'was') a Sara Bach for sale. Pretty little boat.

Thankyou, I remember Sara Bach, being built and launched and winning her 1st race, which I believe was from Pwllheli across the Irish Sea.

I use to spend hours rowing around Pwllheli harbour, well before it was "modernised", in a Yachting World utility pram dinghy my father and I built in the garage, we had a caravan at the Gimblet Rock site and spent a lot of our summer holidays there sailing and messing around in boats. I remember rowing around collecting all the wedges and blocks used on the launching cradle and delivering them back to Partington's when she was launched, using the big red tractor at the top of the slip.

Needless to say that way many, many moons ago!

I have a 10.5 ton Robert Clark Bermudan Sloop and would be interested in the article.

Hi Ian. A few years ago you mentioned you had access to a lot of old Yachting World home build plans. I’ve been asked to advise on the construction of a Seahorse ( June 1959 ) as a result of an insurance claim. I wonder if you have any information you might be able to share with me that might make it easier for me to estimate the time and materials it might take to build a new hull.
Best regards
