I have been offered a Sevylor 280 Fish Ranger at a good price. It is still in the box. Probably more than 10 years old. Any risk og ageing?

I looked into old inflatables recently, and bought a very cheap but generally intact pvc one. I have been reliably informed that seams only last about 10 years on them before they start to degrade. I have had to repair it several times in the 2mknths of ownership already, but I am prepared to shoulder that for now. If made of hypalon (autocorrect had fun with that) then they last much longer.

Just looked up sevylor. I’d take it as a gift, but not much more. Looks like a toy.

Yes, hypalon has a much longer life. Mine is 30 years old (always kept out of sunlight when not in use) but i would be wary of a 10 year old pvc one.

Friends of mine have a couple of Sevylor canoes. They're not traditional Avon, but they're not too bad, and they have lasted five or six years of regular use so far.

Degrading is my concern. Think I will rather pay up for a new one. Sevylor's benefit is that it is light and small when deflated, not durability. I want the dingy away when sailing
