I can find manual but only as the later pushbutton controller .... I need the older with the 'compass' unit as picture shows ...

I am sure it was on Raymarine's website at one time but I cannot find it now. Manual for the digital one crops up all over the place as you have no doubt discovered.

I have used one ... once ... on a trip from Chichester to Dartmouth ... many years ago!

As far as I remember you use it just like the original analogue Autohelms with which you are familiar, except that there are a couple of little knobs to set yaw and sensitivity.. ?? up underneath the compass unit.

Edit controls for sea state and rudder movement I now discover

Spin the dial until it points north when the boat's pointed where you want to go. It's an Autohelm 2000, just with the older clockwork rather than the pushbuttons. The instructions for the 1000 with the clockwork are online, that will tell you what's what, although it doesn't amount to much more than spinning the dial until it points north.

I noted that when I switched to SET .... if I turned the dial ... the RED or GREEN LED would light depending which way I turned the dial. It also has a little tab that I can extend / retract the arm ....

As a temp measure - I took the entension of the above AH and fitted to my old trusty AH 1000 - the pushbutton version that preceded the ST series. It works a treat ...

I will be testing the 2000 over winter to get to know it for next season use.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I have sent you a PM -( 1698659875188.pngsymbol at top right of the screen.)
You might have to make a few more posts before you can access the PM system.

Just had a really good couple days sailing and used my AH1000 ... but once the wind picked up and astern - the AH1000 found that boat a bit heavy and you could see the pushrod / body start to vibrate ...

Out came the old 2000 that came with the boat and put that in place ... I didn't have much luck with it first time I tried it ... but now having read up a bit ... it actually performed very well.
But I did notice it was using large tiller movements compared to the AH1000. I tried the 3 different settings (left each for good length of time to settle) ... but did not make much difference.

Using the 'compass rose' dial instead of my push buttons took a while .. but soon I was quite happy with it.

I was thinking to get a later NMEA capable ST ... but not so sure now ...
