Old Cleats

I'm looking for those old fittings that are made of brown fabric soaked in epoxy. They made different types of cleats and winches I think. what IS that material called?? they are the kind of fittings we are inclined to throw away unfortunately.

All the cleats in my cockpit are Tufnol jam cleats.:

Oh my. That's steep alright. Mind you, they seem to outlast aluminium!

You can buy Tufnol sheet and make your own - may not be cheaper though.

Might be easier and cheaper to make some teak or mahogany ones?
