Old boatyard, Bournmouth

Sort of boaty - my cousin's a photographer & is looking for a recommendation for an old boatyard somewhere in the Bournmouth area.

I guess he's after somwhere with a bit of character & a few old boats in good nick.

Any recommendations?

I don't know of any yards in b'mouth, only the usual suspects in poole and christchurch, and no "old ones" if he's looking for rotting frames etc... head down to southampton near ocean village and further north up river - there's a few big old yards down there...

It's a bit further afield, but the Elephant at Bursledon might be the sort of place he is looking for- and I think Suhaili has been there recently for a refit, but not sure if she's still there.

Rossiter Yachts in Christchurch may be the best available close to Bournemouth

Ridge Wharf on the Frome near Wareham is the closest to that requirement.

Mudeford in Christchurch. Not exactly a boat yard but there's lots of old boaty things to take pics of down there, from fishing boats coming back with the catch (if you time it right) to a dinghy park and even kids crabbing on the quay... although holding a camera anywhere near a youngster these days is enough to get you on the front page of the mirror, so maybe not that one.
Still, I love it there, and although I've not been for years it remains one on my favorite places.
