We've just had our Suzuki 200 outboards serviced. All internal anodes and transom anode are aluminium. The dealer supplied zinc external engine anodes which we queried.

The response from Suzuki is :-
----------------------------------------------------
All of our anodes for the larger engines are aluminium from manufacture.

This expects engines to be used in seawater, if they are to used in freshwater changes should be made.

The internal engine anodes remain aluminium. Only the bar and swivel anodes change to a magnesium item.

Anodes fitted to the lower unit are alloy and remain so regardless of water type.
----------------------------------------------------------
Thoughts please ?

The boat is ready to go back in the water today. Salt water. I've paid the bill and just noticed they've fitted a magnesium transom anode. I don't know whether to delay going in and get this changed.

Delay, you need zinc or aluminium for salt water.

Strange, aluminium is usually suitable for fresh or salt water, unless Suzuki use some weird alloy.
