Oil

Looks like I have to check oil pump by dropping oil pan, hoping for a lot of advice and instruction.
Try to have a Merry Christmas .

The manual says the pressure relief valve is part of the pump my guess would be its not seated properly some piece of rubbish is caught in the seat preventing the valve from closing properly

Since we're playing the guessing game I'd look right back to where it started with new conrod. You say new shells? Was the crank reground? You're leaking through the big ends still. If they need to wear in they may improve. Then again, maybe not.

Did you regrind the crank and fit standard bearing shells? I ask as you say you're not good at this stuff, the crank will be smaller so undersize shells must be used to match the new crank size or there will be a lack of oil pressure and a lot of knocking and wear.
Also always check markings on shells themselves not the packaging as they don't always end up in the right box.

Thanks for your input, I was guided by a mechanic
So that should be OK. The engine runs sweet but pressure is 30lbs

30psi is if anything highish if the engine is hot, unlikely there are any large bearing clearances. By any chance does the reading stay the same hot or cold and at low and high speeds? If so I would be checking the guage and sender before doing anything drastic. Good practice to check them first anyway.
If they are ok next guess would be pressure relief valve.

Thanks for your sound input , gordmac I've checked pressure with a hydraulic gauge and read the same. New sender in. All signs point to oil pump

Yes that could happen, the oil warning light doesn't come on, checked the lamp. Can a new sensor /switch be faulty?

It’s very likely to be the pressure relief valve spring which is part of the pump. Afraid the only fix is to pull the engine out drop the sump and fit a new pump.
