Oil stained gel coat

Large area of topside has got stained by teak oil. Any suggestions as to how to Clean? Tried scrubbing with copious amounts of detergents with no effect.

I wonder if oxalic acid might be worth a try?

I did the same - ended up using kitchen scouring pads. Slow but effective. Oxalic acid didn't work as the oil dried on not in the gelcoat

try thinners or gun wash as its cheaper.

Acetone seems to work, although not as easily as it does for grease and sticker residue. I used acetone on kitchen paper to remove a small amount of excess teak oil; if I had more to do I might try acetone on a plastic scourer (assuming it doesn't dissolve )

I spilt some deks Olje on the kitchen worktop and it didn't respond to anything until I soaked it in Fairy powerspray and gently worked at it with a non-scratch scourer. It takes time!

I have just cleaned similar off of the deck of our boat. I spilled a pot of teak oil on the deck, and a day later, I managed to remove the stain with a sponge with CIF on it and ElbowGrease sprayed on the stain.

It all cleaned off.

Remember trying to remove some grease off painted wood with Fairy powerspray, it took the paint off! Was actually thinking about Cif too.
