oil pressure switch, rip off or cheap chineese rubbish ?

I suppose it depends what that switch does.

If it just causes the old pressure gauge to fail then fine.

If it triggers a whole host of things on the ECU stopping the boat in the middle of nowhere then maybe not.

Buy a 5 dollar one and have a look at it!

Having just changed my starboard oil switch, I would be less worried about the price and more worried about how to get to the bloody thing!

Only 3 days to get it done with much shouting, cursing and bruising :):):)

If only volvopaul was manx based :D

I would be more concerned about the cheap Chinese switch failing and dumping the oil, don’t think you would get any warranty from Alibaba, the Chinese are very good at copying things but never as good with the quality and bearing in mind the cost of a replacement engine I know what I would do

You could just take your old one into your local (decent) motor factors and they'll find a suitable replacement for you.
No fuss, waiting or P&P.
Should be less than a tenner

Just done some research and before you go cutting any plugs off and fitting a pressure switch as shown above, the VP switch provides a signal to the ecu for oil pressure gauge and warning light so confirms that it’s more than just a switch.
If this is the kind of repairs that are done then no wonder people are complaining about the reliability of electronic engines

I'm sure there are plenty of modern car or truck engines with the same features. As I said, a visit to a reputable motor factors will more than likely find an identical part at fraction of the cost
