hi all, have vp d6 350s,
Oil seems to be getting into bay below engine, 1 pint in month or so, there is spraying from dip stick, (top broken) have ordered new one, this cant be cause of all oil in bay,?!! oil pressure good, breather issues?

Also, have a raymarine depth, through hull air,,, that stops working when jumping onto plane, freezes, how can I fix this???

thanks in advance

Are you sure the sender for depth is Raymarine and 'through hull' and not Airmar and 'in hull'?

1. turbo oil feed/drain? I had this leak on one of my D6's
2. sounds like the transducer is in the wrong place (although I'm not entirely sure I know what you mean by 'through hull air'). I had a through-hull transducer fitted to mine and gave up on it in the end, just use an in-hull instead. Even that took two or three goes to find the least turbulent position

I'd be checking your oil cooler , when the intercooler leaks it drips salt water on the oil cooler area, this corrodes a part of it that's under constant pressure, eventually it blows the seal out giving virtually zero oil pressure, get it checked .

As Volvo Paul says....most likely the problem.....other than that...check the tin can crank case breathers aren't to blame (if fitted). These are often forgot about when self serviced.

If it's an in-hull, first make sure it's got enough fluid in it to provide continuity between the sender and the hull. If it has and you're still seeing the problem, then move it to a less turbulent position on the hull.

Should be 71mm of Glycol (or cooking oil apparently) in there. Easy to fix if it's an issue, even a numpty like me managed it. Vet or pet shop should sell a 50ml syringe or £1 from eBay.
