Have you tried Keypart, their prices are normally more reasonable.

As for the oil, I have been advised that any good quality motor oil of the right grade will suffice and have used them without obvious problem. I am sure that Volvo will tell you that theirs has extra special magic ingredients to prolong engine life. You pays your money....

Go to a 'motor factors' i.e. someone who supplies bits to the motor trade. There are several in virtually every town, look in Yellow Pages.
I buy 'Fram' brand filters which most of these people stock. If they don't do Fram, quote these numbers and they'll sell you an equivalent. Cost is a fraction of Volvo. I too have a 1988 Volvo 2002 so these numbers should be the same!
Oil filter: Fram PH2874
Secondary fuel filter: Fram P4186.
If you have a standard 'CAV' type primary fuel filter / water separator, the Fram number is C1191PL. Alternative is AC Delphi 7111-296.
Oil.....I use a good quality oil with same SAE values as Volvo i.e 15W/40. Buy it somewhere like Halfords, choose a 'natural' oil (for diesel engines obviously) rather than synthetic. I used a Castrol oil last year, found a Duckhams one this year. I am confident this is fine but do choose a reputable make.
