Oh ****

My version of that is leaving my mobile on the boat on a Sunday around five o'clock, and, because it is essential in my job, I simply had to go back and get it. This realisation and consequent decision taken at about eight that evening, just as I was settling into my first gin.

120 miles there. Dinghy out of the rack, launch, out to the boat; back, heave the dink into the rack, back in the car and two and a bit more hours home, finally in my bed in the small hours.

damn

Similar story. Got home after the weekend to find my Psion handheld computer missing, and needed for work that week. After searching everywhere decided it must be on boat. 180 miles from Aberdeen to Oban on Monday evening. Searched all round boat, heart sinking, when eventually found it tucked down by the head of two year-old daughter's berth, the password field full of random characters! Spent the night on board and left very early to drive the 180 miles back home in time for work. I think that may be the distance record so far!

Cheers

Left the house keys on the boat in my sailing jacket, having walked the dogs round the marina. Couldn't get in when I got home, so straight back to the boat to get keys. Admittedly only an hour round trip. But when I got home, found the front door hadn't been locked anyway. And the spare keys were in the lock. Just hoope my insurance company never finds out.

I used to....

I used to go sailing for the day, usually down to helford, get the last launch back to the club (on a racing night, after he'd collected the round the cans racers) the last trip he'd make that day, get to the car, pat my pocket and curse!

Where were my car keys? Where I left them.....on the shelf by the nav table...had to walk home, then back the next morning....ARG!

Back in 1984 I was about to start my first job as a junior doctor, a house officer, a group of 4 of us went to Spain for a 2 week holiday, when we left we were delayed at the airport by a considerable period of time by flight problems and I arrived on the ward at 11:00 on day one of my illustrious career, my glasses, with out which I had a few problems, they were in Malaga airport!

Frequently but either SHMO has her set or a "borrow" a set from the marina.

Keys in door

I think my insurance company would be pleased to discover this had only happened once, not the many times that it has happened. Not to mention returning after a day at work to find the front door has been open all day.
