I have never done this before, but I suppose there is a first time for everything.

Up until yesterday I had always made a point of selling a boat then having a period of reflection on what to buy next before getting out there and looking and buying.

Not this time, made an offer on the next boat yesterday which was accepted and now I find myself wondering how long it will take to sell my present boat, not so easy in an isolated location.

Was it a daft thing to do? ? ?

Yes it was silly, but we all understand.

Now to an important question, what did you buy?

well strictly speaking it aint bought yet as they have just accepted the offer so there's the survey to get before handing over the dosh, but its looking good.

The boat, well I have a serious hankering to get back to a catamaran so its another Prout for me 33cs this time and thinking of winters in the sun.

I'm glad you have seen the light

dinnae sink it this time laddie ;-)

Rather hoping that lightning will not strike twice :) thinking was that if we had not lost the first one we would still have it now and not be thinking of changing, so fingers crossed all will be well. I hope there is someone out there looking for a well equipped nippy and useful monohull and that she won't be hanging about too long

But I would not like to be landed with two boats and have to sell the new one because I couldnt sell the old one

Once did that with houses.... two mortgages, two fat ones.... shortly before the house price bubble/crash in 1989/Q3. I could see the problem coming, looming on the horizon, and had had the bungalow - the only 2-bed house in the expensive district, for miles - on the market from the preceding Easter. Did I sweat blood!!

The couple who eventually bought it, at asking price, had been gazzumped twice and also were sweating blood.... sure, their equity-to-loan ratio took an apparent knock, but 2 years later they were again ahead of where they'd started.

I bought my current boat from someone who'd already agreed to buy another.

Both sales went through quickly and everyone ended up happy.

Good luck!

Yes very stupid, but often there's no other way. I always find the 'perfect' new boat before I sold the old one so what do you do? In fact its quite often because only because I have found a new one that I decide to sell in the first place.

Daftest thing to do was making it public, now every prospective buyer will be making the lowest offers knowing that you are very keen to sell.
