Absolutely. Legendary is the very best adjective I could think of for describing the corruption in Naples. The corruption in Naples is legendary
I have itAbsolutely. Legendary is the very best adjective I could think of for describing the corruption in Naples.
And then there's the reality, for those who fancy first hand experience, as opposed to keyboard warriors.
The police were excellent in their response and almost a highlight of the visit so all was not lost.I already told you I'm sorry about that - as well as for the fact that you obviously missed all the rest.
I can't invite you to come back and stay enough to review your opinion, because I don't have any facilities in Naples.
But I can assure yoy that this is what several Neapolitans friends of mine would do.
The corruption is very well documented and clearly very widespread (Wiki, various news channels). The murder rate is nearly 4 times Rome, which can hardly be called a crime free city. It is only the scale that is a matter of legend rather than careful metrics - and few administrations like to reveal the extent of their inability to maintain order and law or even sanitation.Absolutely. I suppose that after Northern Ireland, Naples was quite relaxingMy brother was kidnapped in Naples along with his fiance. They managed after many hours to make a daring escape. He described it as the best city he ever visited, absolutely loved it.
Serves you well for following the suggestions of someone who lives in Turin.family connections in Torino, including sailors, told me to avoid Naples on my travels- so I went to Messina/Sicily and got dysentery instead
If crime is what stir-up your interest, you don't need to look as far as Naples, that does make it to the top ten within the old Continent, but nowhere near the best. The corruption is very well documented and clearly very widespread (Wiki, various news channels).

In Torino I was shown the basics of white pizzas which I often prefer to the neopolitan style. Incidentally the fresco of a proto pizza in Pompey is a white pizza. I just think tomatoes on pizza often swamp it. In messina I got to explore sugo arrabiata, which I sometime make - I blame the restaurant for my malaise, not the dish.Serves you well for following the suggestions of someone who lives in Turin.
... Sorry, couldn't resist!![]()

There's a choice of no less than three memorables UK destinations scoring higher than Naples that you could visit first - and another couple in France.
Also here in Italy, as you can see we have another place to offer that you might prefer to Naples, from this rather peculiar perspective.

Define "drop down".Grenoble dropped down to 12th after Fr Hackett moved out
Catania and Naples rank the top of the list if you select for Southern cities. I dont like Bradford (or indeed London or Rome) so quite broad in my choice of big towns to avoid. Glad you like NaplesIf crime is what stir-up your interest, you don't need to look as far as Naples, that does make it to the top ten within the old Continent, but nowhere near the best.

PS: Oh, and ref. Rome hardly being a crime free city, you mean just about like all the others in the above list, right?
Plus London or Bilbao, just to name another couple of examples scoring higher than Rome in the very same list....
And please, don't even try to argue that the administration of Rome or Naples are better than the rest at hiding "their inability to maintain order and law or even sanitation", because that would be beyond a joke.
I assumed it was a more violent place when our number one miscreant lived thereDefine "drop down".
It scored 20th in 2022, and also the year before.
