Off to Nice

Good luck and Bon voyage!
Hope the Golfe de Lion treats you kindly.
Will meet you at some point as we too have moved to SC this year.

Not an entirely successful trip.

One of the original documents turned out to be a copy. Registry confirmed they either need original or the copy stamped by the French registry. Broker after frantic phone calls can, apparently, get this done on Thursday. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Upside it boat nicely cleared and cleaned by the owner. Downside he'd taken the rib off - told to put it back. By the broker.

Further good news is fuel at St Maxime is OK cost (€1.25) and the weather for next week looks to be improving.

Long story short, still haven't bought the boat but we are edging closer.

Nice Terminal 1 is a dump.

Bummer - why can't folk just conclude a deal in a straightforward way !! Looks like it will conclude - just more hoops to jump through (know how it feels !!). All the best.

The broker actually suggest I could still pay today and he'd send me the doc once it was sorted.

Yeah right.

I'm sure it will get sorted, it's just a bit frustrating, and know I'm trapped in an airport that makes Stansted look plush

I must be strange in that I like T1 at Nice. It's quick to get through, immigration is smooth and the tiny lounge on departure is fine.

I can't compare it to Stanstead as I have never flown from there (pax or in the front).

Its a building site right now, plus they've just done a controlled explosion in the checking area and my flight is now somewhere between an hour and two hours delayed, depending on the minute you look.

Why don't BA fly to T2? That looks very nice....

I'm with mac
T2 is nicer but both T1 and T2 are incredibly quick. On arrival, from plane wheels touching the tarmac to being in my car is 8 minutes, or +5more if I have checked baggage. On departure I step out of car 35mins before the departing flight and as a regular (+12 flights departing per annum) they give you a special gold swipe card to use a "secret" route to airside that has no queues - no other major airport on planet has that afaik
Sure T1 looks dull, has no shops and the lounge is crummy relative to other airports, but that is all irrelevant if you're passing thru airport at the speed of light
T2 is architecturally quite something - check out the unsupported span of the main flat elliptical roof. None of those "scaffolding" supports that Stansted has
Once you start with Reus and Barcelona you'll wish they copied Nice's format :D

T2 in /out is rapid as JFM infers .
Easy jet have had built a new box extension to the Rondal at T2,
Lounges both T2/T1 and most Uk airports to be frank tend to be filled with the wrong type of people if I can say that in an very un Corbyn est way :o
Once they were exclusive -now frequented by shell suited ,tattooed ,flip flop wearing Brits -maxing out on the free booze .
Any how sorry to here a few more hurdles still up .
I,am sure it will all work out well in the end

I believe most airports have secret routes...

I don't know one that is run by the airport itself as a reward scheme for its regular traveller regardless of airline, basically you have to make a minimum of 10 (?) originating flights in the preceding 12 month period ( go below that on a rolling rolling basis and you lose the card and start again. ) May be one elsewhere but I don't know where . Super Fast departures ad arrivals invariably fast even when flying from non-schengen .

yes this is definitely a good feature if it accessible through such a system. Other airports have VIPs routes that normal people would not access even on their 100th originating flight

Comes with other 'benefits' too -- Special parking zone - same card but only in T2 , preferential long term parking rates... etc .

Well done for holding firm on that. I once fell for that on a boat purchase in Germany and it cost me a couple of grand's worth of Ward & McKenzie's time to get the copies notarised
