We are always told by the OFCOM people what they do for our licence money. Amongst their many (claimed) responsibilities is that they "protect" our airwaves.

I have been trying to get a response from them about interference on my radio from the Police. No response. No acknowledgment. No communication from the Office of Communication. Impressive.

They can still send me lots of paperwork asking for money though.

Rant over.

Joe

Ps Before some wag says anything about interference from the police I should explain that it is radio interference!

I sent them an E mail asking for some information - fair does they did reply within a week, but not with the information I had requested, and then more than a month later I got an email response - which merely gave me the same response they had sent by post and still did not answer the question - meanwhile I had managed to get a phonenumber with someone who actually understood the question!

That is what they call "service"

Very nasty being interfered with by a policeman.

What are they doing to you?

I don't know how I missed this? Probably because I am still not used to being part of the omnificient Ofcom.

As the only Ofcommer on these boards I suppose I have to ask, what radio services are you receiving interference to? Is it your Maritime kit? I wouldn't have thought so but you never know!

As far as I am concerned, all it does is to commission damn fool market surveys who telephone me asking irritating questions.

BBC Radio 4. I use it for the Weather Forecast. Does that qualify it as Maritime kit?

Still no reply!

Is that on VHF (FM) or on long wave?

Most likely your kit with the problem, very unusual for police radio to be faulty.

What sort of radio and aerial are you using?

Mike,

My question was tongue in cheek.

I suppose that the lack of reply from OFCOM is tongue in cheek as well! It's not very impressive is it?

Oops i missed the tongue in cheek element, I don't usually suffer sense of humour failure.

I couldn't really comment on Ofcom as a whole as I don't know enough about it. My little part of the RA has becoming far smaller in context to Ofcom. I only have a vague knowledge of the work of the other 4 regulators that make up the whole. The only thing that I do know is that the people who were RA are doing their level best to keep things operationational during a major upheaval but I would bet those from the other regulators are as well.
