Received a lovely letter from the above about Electro-magnetic fields.
I think in my case they have overestimated the intelligence and the attention span of the reader (self)
Would someone with a greater understanding of the issue please, speaking in plain english, explain?
I thank you - as Arthur would have said

It refers to a public consultation yet it’s causing apoplexy among amateur radio types.

In plain speaking English, you can ignore it. Very clever people, those with double barrel surnames and a PhD in Electrickery, for example, are doubtless writing a thesis in response.

The responses will be read and duly ignored by the government body and the proposal will become entered into law.

Failure to comply within the marine environment will carry the penalty of keelhauling or the cat ‘o nine tails.

It has absolutely nothing to do with concerns about the potential harm from obsessive, compulsive use of mobile phones but legislation is a perfectly naturally response to there being no recorded harm from the lower frequency radio spectrum since Marconi discovered it. ?

I have investigated this and can summarise it as such: It will cost you more.

It's a pointless box-ticking exercise by people with nothing better to do - and we pay for it!

Someone as cynical as I about under employed public servants attempting to justify their salary! Someone far cleverer than I, i.e. more adept at interpreting 'public speak' has advised that I have no problem unless I install a Radome on my Grand daughters Oppie mast!!

His calculations came out at -
25W VHF you need to be more than 1.6m away.
Radar - you need to be more than 0.2m away.

Think we can all sleep soundly in our beds, unless you worry about why your taxes are paying for Jobsworths writing rubbish.

All good, thanks, Roy. I’d be back in a heartbeat if there was a (convenient) place to berth. Trust all is well with you ?
Yes all good thanks , I have plenty of time spare now my job was done on brexit , and they won’t let me in the lounge. I always drink in the bar anyway ie all manual workers.

I have not received any information from Ofcom as yet. There have been some suggestions here regarding safe distance for AIS transponders but it is not clear, most likely because the ofcom info/data is not available or not clear.
My AIS aerial is under the sprayhood canopy and therefore in close proximity with people in the cockpit. I am aware that the AIS transmission pattern (and power) is different to vhf transmission, however, has anyone managed to derive any AIS safe distances?

The safe distance is probably a few millimetres.
