Just put the new wheel into the sensor.
Putting the leg up causes the gauge to change too quickly from -4 and it comes to a stop too soon.
Looks like the scaling is out.
Wonder if the sensor is out of adjustment and I need to rotate it one way or the other to change the sensitivity.

(The leg goes up down just fine without the wheel engaged)

Any one know if which way to turn it to make it less sensitive ????

Lower the leg fully.
Remove the rack
Rotate the wheel to as near minus 6 as you can get it
Refit the rack , you will have to rotate the wheel 2 teeth further to fit the rack .
Trim up again to test to plus 6 , motor should stop at plus 6

Trimmed the leg to -8, any lower than that and it shows a red led on the display which locks the leg.
Raise it on the switch, goes up to +6
BUT that is only just off the floor , so it only moves a bit for the gauge to move a lot.
With the rack off it goes up / down just fine.

Wonder if it has rotated out of sync over the years the rack has been missing, should i turn it to reduce the sensitivity ??

Hmmm , are you assuming that plus 6 should be the fully up position?

If so it isn’t , from minus 6 to plus 6 is your driving range when the boat is going through the water at speed , any higher than plus 6 and you will loose speed and spray water in the air with your props .

You have depending on your type of trim switch a red button above the up arrow , tell me which type of trim button you have .

To lift the leg to the beach position you have to press the up button along with the red button .

You also need to fine tune the potentiometer which is done from the engine bay by slackening off the Y shaped fork that hold the pot sensor to the steering fork , a slight turn left or right will do this , you really need someone on the helm at the same time .

There is no sync it’s very simple system.

As you have fitted a new gear wheel did you remove the potentiometer before you fitted this as sometime if you press in the wheel and it’s aligned wrong it will break off one of the lugs on the pot sensor , by doing this it will never read correctly .

Tnx Paul,

Ass u me on my part for sure.
Yes that makes 100% sense, the trim display is of course just that, trim as you are going along.
+6 does not say beach .... i get it now.

It goes from -8 to +6 no prob so i recon the lugs are ok.
Will set it to -6 to +6 and sort the fine adjustment.

Switch, its a black toggle switch on the drive lever:

Forward on the wall plate of the drive lever is a black button, press that and the leg will go up past +6 to beach :)
