After spending the last week down OV I have to say I'm really impressed..

The staff have been enormously helpful, facilities are ok and are to be upgraded at the end of the season I believe but are more than adequate and I'm even finding what I thought would be a hassle, not to be the case i.e. I'm enjoying the little run up the river.

SWMBO's in her element with the shopping and restaurants within easy reach and we have a permanent boat (rather large fender as it never goes anywhere) next to us so no worries of our boat getting clouted by a visitor when not there. We're making good use of the freedom berthing too, plus was surprised to fill up at £1.43p per litre (Petrol) at Port Hamble so not only saving on the jerry can experience but also a few pennies too in that regard... the lad made good use of the free ice lolly whilst fuelling up:D

Maybe honeymoon period or just a stark contrast to having the boat on a trailer being our first year in a marina but at present, couldn't be happier with the experience.

a thumbs up to MDL from me:cool:

marina berthing has so many advantages that alas to argue the point that a swing mooring or trailer sailing is better is a non starter. The only trouble is Gary, you do realise you can never go back... :D

pleased to hear, sorry about the forced boarding party on saturday evening!! :D

If you find fuel at Hamble too busy (which it often is in the summer) try Hythe. Same deal and no queues. I'll watch out for you as I trundle past to Saxon :)
