Disappointing that the headline news is so inaccurate. Apache attack helicopters do not carry troops, they only have 2 seats for the crew and a large weapon payload. Undoutedly they are capable of operating from HMS Ocean as has been seen off Libya this year, There are of course many helicopter types that can also be operated off Ocean's deck that can carry troops. Come on YBW, lets try and get a few basics about our Navy correct.

FYI an Apache can carry 2 passengers externally in an emergency.

see here

HMS Ocean carrys up to 12 Sea King HC4 medium-lift helicopters, six Lynx AH7 light-lift/anti-tank helicopters provided by the Commando Helicopter Force. However, she can also support the Apache AH1 operated by the Army Air Corps and helicopters of the Royal Air Force including the Chinook.
