...despite the Cornish flag /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I remember sailing with SWMBO in Carrick Roads in our GP14 in the early 90's, it was misty so we were keeping an eye out. We heard this boat approaching and out of the mist came PenDuick in full sail, heeled way over and going like the clappers. She was absolutely gorgeous, I thought she deserved some sort of acknowledgement so I just hove to, stood up, and I think I bowed, didn't know what else to do. Got a wave from the man himself and then she disappeared into the mist. Wish I'd got a photo, the image is etched into my memory.
I think I may have posted that before, apologies if I'm getting old and repetitive...
Nothing wrong with the 'Cornish flag' - its just that its being flown from the wrong place. Starboard cross trees would have been correct with a Red Ensign proudly worn on the stern? Perhaps the size of the black and white thing might have been adjusted a bit in these circumstances.
I'd have thought the underlined 8 would have given it away - like the underlined 12 on the 12 metres. If she had a sail number I'm sure we could have looked up a name.
