That's a steep increase! Last year we paid £3.00 per metre which we thought was worth the convenience and electricity. I'm shocked that Lochaline is the same. I like anchoring there in the big basin at the north end of the loch in reasonable depths. Which is FREE by the way.

The reality, I expect, is that the transit marina will be full of yachts very willing to pay the revised fees. If you’re away on holiday for a fortnight or so and it’s £100 for two nights in Oban then, on the scale of things, it’s an incidental expense that’s easily covered by the holiday budget, especially for charter yachts with six on board where costs are shared between the participants. However it hurts when a cruising couple might base themselves in the Oban area for six weeks with frequent visits to the marina for resupply, family crew change, electricity hookup and avoiding bad weather. So I don’t imagine that the marina operators are concerned by the negative reaction on here, it’s just internet waffle to be ignored, sadly.

We’re in Oban. There are nine boats in the transit marina today (when we walked past earlier today). We’re on the sailing club buoys. It’s pricing madness in the transit marina. If it was £35 for us for an overnight berth we’d be in there last night and tonight but at £48.47/nt for us we’re staying well away. Result being that the transit marina is £70 worse off because of the ridiculous pricing.

We’re in Kerrera marina this evening; clean toilets & tidy pontoons. Boats <14m are £26 a night plus £3 if you want electricity.

Also had an amazing meal in the Waypoint Restaurant on site.

Would highly recommend! We will definitely be back this season

short stay on North pier was £5 in late April this year. good facilities. £3.70 a mtr is hardly a fortune if you want to visit Oban.

Anchor anywhere Highland Council are the Authority and expect a bill shortly afterwards. Yes, on your own hook too!

No they're not. It's Argyll & Bute Council. You can anchor at anchor point 2 - don't know if they charge you (the website doesn't say they will) - or further down the Sound of Kerrera for free, still within harbour limits. We've done so several times. Highland Council's geography is miles and miles away.

Good luck getting space in my experience and mooring to a stone pier is not for the faint-hearted or those who are fussy about their topsides.
