One changed hands at Dunstaffnage, approx 5 miles N of Kerrera, a year or so ago for about £3000 so I would have thought it would be in the same price bracket.

Sorry we can't help - I honestly don't know as we've never been in the market for one.

We prefer to rent for the summer - Linnhe Marine, which is relatively inexpensive, basic (no flash stuff), and a nice spot to boot. Claymore swears by Loch Melfort. Swears in other places too of course.

You could enquire at the West Highland Anchorages and Moorings Association, although I believe that a lot of their activity is (or should be in my view) stopping rogue moorings, and new moorings in anchorages.

Webcraft and/or Silkie will have a better idea than me.

Afraid I can't really help either.

I have heard of moorings in Dunstaffnage Bay changing hands for between £2,500 and £3,500 but would have thought these were a bit more desirable than in Kerrera Sound (on the mainland side I presume?)

Do you have one in mind or is this just a preliminary enquiry?

Have a look at Oban Marina website. They seem to have done a good job on the place after the two years or so of the last lot. I used to be there when Jon Fitzgerrald ran the place and will look to go back when the refit of Rhumlady is finished (if it ever is!!)

Sold my first boat to a guy in North Connell. He put it on a self laid mooring in Loch Etive just a few miles from his house. Very sheltered and only cost was laying of mooring.

You do have a bit of a tide gate to deal with at the Falls of Lora tho' - but it's a simple passage at the right time! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I would say the most likely reasons why one might change hands around there is that either the owner has swallowed the anchor or has decided that rowing out to the boat in a strong southerly is just no fun anymore at 20:30 hrs on a Friday in October with the rain lashing down and so has decided to go into a marina.
