Happy New Year all...

OK, so I will start by saying it is possible I am asking for the impossible. However!

I have an Antares 7 2018 OB and a small Honwave T24. The inflatable weighs something like 35kg (so not alot) 2.4m long and 1.54m beam, however while out on the water it is a fair weight to try and haul up the side of the boat etc... for recovering, plus even deflated where do you put the bl@@dy thing.

So I am trying to find ways to put it across the back, however the pesky OB from the actual boat is somewhat in the way
?
, has anyone seen anything clever they would like to share?

There is probably room for 1 davit on the Port side before the swim platform sticks out, this could allow me to bring the dinghy alongside, haul up and then maybe swing round the back. However it would then need other pieces to stop it swinging around like a mad thing and also the Davits I have seen tend to only have a fairly short reach, hence not just having it out back in the first place. The swim platform although sturdy surely wouldn't like Davits on it?

With lots more OB driven cruising size boats kicking around I am not alone?

Yes I am aware this could be fixed with a bigger main boat... maybe in a few years!

Thanks all

Hi, Yes. I have something that could resolve your issue. The original Hurley Davit, no longer available. The spacer bars between the two arms are not essential and can be removed so they sit either side of the engine and are extended out on SS square tubing behind the OB motor. Because this will then act as a lever I would not have anything more than a 12 kilo 3hp 2stroke on the back of the tender or you will have to remove the OB. I have a pair in the back of my Land Rover if interested pm me.

Ah, you are new, you may not be able to pm me until you have a couple posts under your belt. No worries. Like my Land Rover the davits are not going anywhere.

An Antares 7 with an outboard i assume you have a split swimplatform with an outboard in the middle?

In Guernsey we often have this and a custom frame over the outboard in stainless steel tube with the dinghy on the frame upside down so it does not fill up with water.

I assume your problem is going to be the transom door to the swimplatform and access with dinghy in place if you need aceess?

Edit sorry I misread I thought it was the tender’s outboard sticking out you were worried about - ignore !

Looks like its an outboard off (tender as too heavy to lift with dinghy) and stow outboard in a locker or on a transom mount.

Flog your present dinghy ... buy a lightweight 3D dinghy which you can lift easily with one hand and stick it on the roof or the foredeck or half deflate it, fold it in half and stick it in the lazarette.

That's right, boat looks like this. How to get a tender onto the stern of this, up and over / around the Antares OB.

If the tender is light enough why up and over the outboard? Which you could still do with a Hurley system on a Heath Robinson scissor lift system using gas struts, but if the steel rail for the Hurley davit was placed at enough angle to clear the water on the dinghy far side then just keep the entire dinghy behind the motor. The whole point to this exercise is to make it as easy and convenient to launch and retrieve the tender as possible. The Hurley can also unclip from the rail for marina berthing.
I have tried this type of davit....
Force 4 Stainless Steel Davits | Force 4 Chandlery

And they were a disaster. I bought a second pair and filled them with concrete but I forgot you cant polish a turd. No wonder their prices are plummeting. In the end I am going for Simpson / Cooney's which wont fit on the Antares. I trialled the Hurleys but as my swim platform is integrated I need to lift my tender half height before it fits, hence I have them spare
