Hi folks there’s an oring in my rudder bearing assembly that I do have the dimensions for but not the material. This sits below the delrin bearing as far as I can see to keep water out.

Any ideas what material it might be? Jeanneau make nice boats but getting spares or info from their dealers is a challenge to say the least and their understanding of the value of the pound is pretty minimal.

Was just reading that on the web which leaves me in a quandary. I’m guessing either will work here and there shouldn’t be UV or hydrocarbons present but I guess there’s a chance of fuel on the water so nitrile may be the better option?

I don't think a little bit of fuel is a concern. Shoe soles are made from EPDM: they will take small amounts of oil or petrol without total collapse. If your seal has grease behind it then nitrile would be the better choice but otherwise EPDM is likely to perform well.

Ah those were the days. Unfortunately I had to stop shopping at such places since they started demanding a car registration before allowing customers to see a subsection of the catalogue aimed at one vehicle.

Luckily we still have good Auto Shops over here that you can look into large compartment boxes and choose O rings from tiny - to holy smoly huge !! Same with belts ....
