What is the best value method of making mobile calls and accessing the internet in Galicia NW Spain?

At present we have been advised to buy a cheap unlocked smart phone and a Spanish phone card.

We do have a smart phone but would prefer not to have to change cards over at all.

Suggestions appreciated

thanks

We've gone back to a UK contract with 3 as Spain is now included in "Feel at home " I pay £17 per month all you can eat data and texts - 200 mins but use FaceTime for calls as its included in the data for free.

Technically you have to go back every three months but I do that anyway to visit elderly parent and lazy kids.

We were told by others they have been on same contract and not travelled back to UK and not been cut off or stopped their contract.

We had a moviestsr SIM card for data only in an iPad and it was way more expensive and only 2 gb per month

If you're going to be cruising regularly, I advise you make your next phone a dual-SIM.

I had the previous version of this, and preferred it to the Motorola Moto G which replaced it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00YDZFTR2/

Hi ribrage, got the 3 card. Now £20 for newbies to get contract but fingers crossed it will give us good coverage in Galicia.

I'm going to try it with our old Samsung Galaxy Ace which should do the trick. If not I'll look for an unlocked smart phone in Vigo.
thanks
