I remember using the one at Hornet. Is it gone? I could google i know.My club , the RNSA, doesn't even have a clubhouse!
We are so poor we have to make do with an undefaced blue ensign.
One hell of a staysail?
I seem to recall a bar at Whale Island too.I remember using the one at Hornet. Is it gone? I could google i know.
That's the Hornet Sailing Club bar. I knew it well!I remember using the one at Hornet. Is it gone? I could google i know.

The Royal Naval Cub and Royal Albert Yacht Club also had the portacabin bar at Haslar Marina and then onwards to the lightship for a year or two when it first opened. I knew them well!I seem to recall a bar at Whale Island too.
And there's at least two 'services' sailing club clubhouses/bars in Plymouth?
But these are probably 'joint services' facilities?
Then there's the Royal Naval Club and Royal Albert YC in Old Portsmouth.
The actual RNSA does have an office in Gosport, but no bar of its own.
Back in the day, I had a few beers in that office though....
I think i was last in it in the 90s but it might be my imagination. It was a simple place and very WW2.That's the Hornet Sailing Club bar. I knew it well!
Was it not also the RNSA club house. I think it was in the 70s.That's the Hornet Sailing Club bar. I knew it well!
Yes, that's Gosport...... It was a simple place and very WW2.
yep thats her.I think it was the remarkably named “Jan Mayen”, built by Whisstock’s to a Holman
design in 1964. Lloyd’s Register of Yachts for 1976 gives her owner as JJN Wyatt, TD, of Alresford Hall, and adds that he was also a member of Lloyd’s Yacht Club, West Mersea YC, the RORC, the Ocean Cruising Club and the Sail Training Association.
Do your remember the MTB parked near the entrance? And if so what happened to it?That's the Hornet Sailing Club bar. I knew it well!
Tough one. Vague but unreliable memories of that time. I do remember sea jerseys and bonkers bobble hats...?Do your remember the MTB parked near the entrance? And if so what happened to it?
yep thats her.
Didnt Kim work for Francis Jones, prior to setting up his own office
Yes you are right...red trousers, pipes and jaunty captain hats as well. Either blue or red. Women in loose fitting dungarees. Oh and oil skins, not a single designer foul weather piece in sight.Tough one. Vague but unreliable memories of that time. I do remember sea jerseys and bonkers bobble hats...?
The old bridge as well with the foot bridge over. Happy times.Tough one. Vague but unreliable memories of that time. I do remember sea jerseys and bonkers bobble hats...?
