Re: F55 - my mistake

I posted Tony's comment to bring a smile. To me they demonstrated his passion for his love of engineering.

To be specific, I think you'll find on his later 55s that the headroom is increased to 4' plus. The walkway between the engines has been dropped right down. I know it's not standing room (I'm 6' 2") but it's good enough for me!

Re: F55

If light, she'll do 20kts and a bit. Speed suffers about 2 kts when fully loaded.

Running single engine is fine at displacement speeds and produces no real problems at all.

Re: F55 - my mistake

I went on Martin W's F55 earlier this year. To be honest I was amazed by the space and headroom in the engine room. I'm 6' and had no problems

Re: F55 - my mistake

I would tend to agree with you a little on the accomodation although the 55 has 3 cabins. I think such a large hulled boat could accomodate a full width master cabin in the centre of the boat but they'd have to redesign the forward access passage. Not only would this increase the size of the master cabin but also you would'nt have the constant wave slapping you hear in most forward cabins when at anchor - after all this boat is going to spend many nights at anchor (any comments, Piers?).
The saloon I think is also a bit small (relatively speaking) and I wonder whether some space could be taken from the cockpit or have asymmetric decks like the Nordhavn to give more space
Cant agree with you on the engine room, though. It's positively palatial compared to any typical planing 55 footer but for real luxury engine space, the Nordhavn 57 at SIBS was fantastic
