OK, if I want to organise a little private flare exploding session in the field behind my house for local forum people I need to be very sure they are embracing the concept of acceptable risk, and will not hold me or mine liable for any burns or other damage that they (hopefully) won't sustain.

Are there any legal eagles about here who might have a form of words or a link to a form of words that will stand a test?

Unlikely to be valid when you will be breaking the law anyway /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

HMCG really ought to be taking the lead on this and organising end of season flare days. This would encourage people to get rid of flares that were coming to the end of their life, and solve the problem of what to do with out of date flares.

Just for the record, where we are and not setting off rockets I don't think we will be breaking the law. Now PLEASE don't hijack my thread! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Sadly, or perhaps happilly, under UK law you cannot absolve yourself from liability for death or personal injury.

Best you might be able to achieve is to get any neighbours within striking distance to agree not to sue you if a parachute flare lands on their shed still burning (as it will be) and sets the lot up in flames.

well they are not going to get called out if John lets off some handheld flares in a private field where they cannot be seen by passersby - so they can rest happy. Why are people trying to make such a mountain out of a molehill?
