Watched the John Snow America's Cup programme last week, and there was shots of the inside of "our" boat. There's sod all in there. Just masses of carbon fibre and GRP and stuff. No setees, or carpet or nice furnishings or headlinings or kitchens or bathrooms or anything.

So is that why they all want to come on here and join us. 'Cos we've got the comfortable boats and they're just roughin in it in GRP pit?

Oh and on the race they showed, GB came second. Good eh? But out of two boats, maybe not so good.

They come here because were friendly. Not making a drama out of everything. Because to us sailing is fun. Not serious, because we dont drone on about colregs or which way up yer flag goes. Because were not so self important and want every one to treat us like royalty, moving out the way just so we can carry on, undisterbed in a haphazard direction. Comming here is like visiting you local village pub where all the world can be put to rights without upsetting anyone. Well nearly anyone. Tothers dont stay long. Other thing is. We dont race anyone, so no axe to grind. Just quietly get there first!!

Got to admit, Came over and had a look, Just to see how the other half live,
Oil and horse power, All you talk about.
Decided that the grass was'nt greener here, And decided the visit
would be short, Shorter the better!
Question,
What makes the grass grow tall in Texas?
Answer,
Bulls---,
Same as you write over here!

NO no no,
Us true sailors,
We have charts,compasses,
Vast amounts of experience,We've done the courses.
learnt the rules,
So your kind offer of a tow, should never be needed ,Thank you.
But if ever your engine should breakdown,
And you don't a pair of oars handy.
Just give that passing sailboat a wave.

Admitably it can be difficult under sail, but possible.
The question is,
How would you manage, to do the same without a engine,
Mike

Overtook a stinkie today

...well almost. This full displacement thing took 5 miles to overtake me today. Yarmouth - Portsmouth in two hours. Not bad going for a raggie.
(I put the sails up this weekend, as thge twin 50hp's were being serviced, and I couldnt afford to refuel)
