Is the OP being helpful or is he the trader?

I've been twice in the last three/four years. Perhaps I'm used to the very large autojumbles there, the boat jumble rather small and unexciting. Ebay taking over?

I bought the obligatory hank of bungy cord and was out in an hour.

If you go and go in the sheds/halls, count all the locked and barred fire doors..

All fire doors in the hall are always and will be unlocked as per fire regulations. Why wouldn't they be?

Wolfy- why the h**k would I make something like that up?

After trying to get out through a locked (front) door marked 'Fire Exit' I noticed several more. All this in a building with significant quantities of solvent based paints/plastics/used fuel tanks etc., on sale. As a facilities manager elsewhere, I raised in quietly with a chap on the gate who said 'yeh, whatever....' or similar.

The following year, exactly the same- so did not bother to mention it. Didn't go last year, so apologies if you are new and doing it differently.

Are you? And are you?

Nick

Admission to this event used to be £2.50 not so long ago. £3.50 is too much.

Agreed. Was 4 quid last year down this neck of the woods. Attendance seemed well down on previous years. Could be they are pricing themselves out. We don't be attend anymore.
Most of its cr-ap anyway.

Oh and the food is a rip-off as well.

Nice of them to charge you for the privilege of going there and buying their stuff ... I know the organisers have to pay to hire the hall/field or wherever but you'd think they'd sting the traders for that, not the punters. Imagine going to the chandler's and finding a guy on the door wanting to charge you to go in ... mind you, they're a rip-off anyway so maybe the entry charge is added on after all! Having said that I've never been to a jumble ... should I?

Apologies if my reply sounded rude & am unable to comment on what happened a few years back. I just didn't want potential visitors to think they would be at risk.
I am part of the organiser team who took over this jumble last year. The event is held the new George Stevenson building that has ample fire doors as well as huge roller shutter doors at each end that are opened from the inside and cannot be locked. We (and the showground) take health and safety very seriously and have no need to lock fire doors. Its just not worth the risk especially as you say with paint and solvents being offered for sale.

I have been to this jumble a lot of times but last year there were few traders (poss down to the weather), I hope that it is better supported by the traders this year or it may be the last time I go.
Any-one know how many traders are booked in?
