UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary Notices
1. PAPER CHART SUNSET - The UKHO has announced its intention to withdraw from paper charts by the end of 2026. This decision has been taken to allow us to focus on our digital navigation products and services that meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s seafarers. The withdrawal of paper charts will be done in a phased approach over a number of years. Charts withdrawn will be announced in this bulletin in advance. We will provide more information in this bulletin as we begin the process.
For more information about our decision, timetable, and the impacts, please visit Withdraw from paper chart | ADMIRALTY
This was announced on the Scuttlebutt forum.

Chart 2151 International Series - England - East Coast, River Thames, Tilbury to Margaret Ness; A Continuation at same scale. 1:12,500 These are including changes to depths from the latest Port of London Authority and Peel Ports Medway surveys.
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Drying heights. Depths. - This Notice is to amend two UKHO Small Craft Charts in the middle of the Thames Estuary. The Standard Nautical Charts have been amended vide Notices 4891/2021 (regarding Foulger’s Gat) and 5173/2021 (regarding the Middle Sunk). Note that I am currently recommending that crossing at the Middle Sunk is only used with great caution as there has only been partially surveyed by the Port of London Authority and us (CTTE). Navionics and C-Map have adopted these changes (earlier this year) but would be only brought up to date if you have a current subscription. Old versions would be still be optimistic! The second image on the usual Notices to Mariners is using the UKHO block that was issued by NtM 5173/2021 which incorporates all the changes on the Middle Sunk. Note that the block is intended for the SNC not the SCC but for practical purposes it would serve.
4, BELGIUM - Buoyage. - Two new North Cardinal Buoys along the De Hann and Wenduine coastline between Oostende and Blankenberge.

1. LONG REACH (LOWER) - DREDGING OPERATIONS - On or about 03rd August 2022, dredging operations will commence at Civil & Marine Jetties, Purfleet. The dredge will be undertaken using the pontoon barge GPS BOXER, with tugs GPS BATTLER or GPS RACIA. Barges PHOEBE, ZEUS and KG17 will be used to remove dredge material from the site. During non-operational times the pontoon will be positioned on spud legs at the berth, with all movements made in conjunction with London VTS. The expected completion date is 9th August 2022.
The chartlet below shows the approximate location of the dredge area. On Downloads I have added a chartlet using Imray's chart (with permission) which shows the effect of the Crouch amendment No 30 this year. That moved the Swallowtail W to the west. The chartlet incorporates the revised Whitaker and Swallowtail Channel changes effective in June last year (2021). The chartlet can be downloaded as a pdf or jpg.
