1. FRANCE - North Coast - Wreck. -
One of several wrecks (exposed at HW) on the beaches just east of Calais harbour is now deleted!
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Obstructions. Buoy. - Last year, following survey work for a new cable laying, unexploded ordnance was discovered – almost a single line of ordnance - from the Oaze to the Nore Sand. The Port of London Authority reported the ordnance by local notice. Now this notice is showing the ordnance as an established hazard. The Mid Swatch SHB is now back in its previous established position.
Local

1. River Thames - Gravesend Reach - Red Lion Wharf Works
- on or about Monday 10th March 2025, contractors instructed by the operators of Red Lion Wharf will commence works to remove damages piles from the structure. These works will involve diving operations, lifting operations, personnel working on the waterline and use of a crane barge and other vessels, including tugs and workboats. The works are expected to be complete no later than 7th April 2025, with operatives working on various days within this time, typically between 0700 and 1700, Monday to Friday only. The general location of the works is indicated by the red markings on the chart abstract. See at the Local List at: Notices to Mariners. Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY) displayed. International Code Flag ‘Alpha’ and the red flag specified in Thames Byelaw 33 are expected to be displayed in connection with diving activity. Further details will be broadcast as needed by London VTS on VHF channels 68.
2. River Thames - Sea Reach - London Gateway Berth 5 & 6 Investigation Works - This Notice supersedes and replaces L13-25, which is hereby cancelled. Commencing on or around 3rd February 2025, marine ground investigation works by Causeway Geotech
Ltd will commence as part of DP World London Gateway’s extension project. The works, which are expected to last until the end of April 2025, will be undertaken by Jack-up barge “CAUSEWAY GIANT 1” (24m x 17m) in 13 bore hole locations positioned alongside the face of berth 5 (in alignment with berth 4) and additional 13 bore holes along the face of berth 6.
Exclusion Zones
1. Exclusion zone of 75 m clearance of planned berth position of a vessel on berth 4 (during manoeuvring, assisting tugs are permitted to be within the 75 m exclusion zone around the barge).
2. Exclusion zone of 100 m from the JUB barge to passing traffic.
Workboat “MPV BULLDOG” “SEADOG”(!) and/or “MV SNOOPDOG” will be in attendance. All vessels involved with the works will maintain a continuous listening watch on VHF Channel 68. For the latest information contact London VTS on VHF Channel 68,
3. Harwich Haven - Dredging Operations – Barney – Update 1 - Barney (IMO 9740938) is continuing with dredging operations in Harwich Harbour, Felixstowe and the River Stour until around 17 March 2025. Detailed dredger movements can be obtained from Harwich VTS on VHF Channel 71.
4. Surveyed Depths – Harwich International Port and approaches - recent surveys have identified the following depths in the River Stour dredged areas:
• Area dredged to 8m (not including berths): Minimum depth – 7.8m below chart datum
• Area dredged to 9m (not including berths): Minimum depth - 8.5m below chart datum

5. Surveyed Depths – Harwich Harbour – Update 4 - the latest hydrographic surveys showing depths in Harwich Harbour. The controlling depth for deep draught vessels navigating within the harbour area should currently be taken as 15.1m below chart datum, plus height of tide.
Significant depths below chart datum (not including inside berth boxes) are:
• 15.1m - spot soundings between the Babergh Buoy and Shotley Spit Buoy
• 15.0m - spot soundings between the Shotley Spit Buoy and Grisle Buoy
• 15.1m - spot soundings between the Grisle Buoy and North West Beach Buoy

Contact Harwich VTS or Haven Pilots for further information regarding tidal windows. This notice replaces local notice to mariners No. 19 of 2025, which is now withdrawn.
6. Surveyed Depths – Halfpenny Pier, Harwich - See hydrographic survey extract below for latest depths at Halfpenny Pier and approaches. This will be important to some. Halfpenny Pier is less than 2m chart datum. Go to the above quoted page - Local List and you can download the image by clicking on the image.
7. Sheerness Docks – No. 11 Berth Tug Moorings - Diving Operations -
diving operations are due to take place at the Svitzer tug moorings on Sheerness No.11 Berth. A dive inspection of the barge “Pluto” and an adjacent turning pile which is leaning over will be carried out on Tuesday 11th March 2025 between the hours of 10:00 and 18:00. All dive work will be conducted from the barge Pluto by “Seatech Commercial Diving Services” who will maintain contact with Medway VTS on VHF Channel 74 at all times. All vessels passing Sheerness No.11 Berth should navigate with caution, reduce speed and wash and maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 74 at all times. 8. Suffolk Yacht Harbour Dredging 2025. - Dredging in the entrance to the Suffolk Yacht Harbour will take place between: - Monday 10th March – Monday 31st March. This work is maintenance dredging to the entrance channel and within the marina. This work is being undertaken by a cutting suction dredger Muddy Boots2 and Plough Tug Little Mo The vessels will maintain a listening watch on VHF CH68.
9. Rowhedge Pontoon - Temporary closure of Rowhedge Pontoon and removal of navigation light/marker [FL R 3S] Red flashing light with a period of 3 seconds. Rowhedge Pontoon is being removed for maintenance purposes from the 27th February 2025 until 31st March 2025. Therefore, the use of the pontoon will not be available between these dates and will re-open on 1st April 2025. The navigation marker, [FL R 3S] Red flashing light with a period of 3 seconds, will also be out of service for the same period it time and back in service on 1st April
2025. Mooring on the Rowhedge Quay may also be restricted between these dates. For details of availability for mooring please contact the Rowhedge Water Bailiff on 07494 015105. Image in the Local List.
