UKHO Permanent/Preliminary/Temproary Notices

1. ENGLAND - East Coast - Wreck. -
A stranded wreck upriver of Rochester Bridge as reported by Medway (Peel Ports) Local Notice 13 last week.
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - Three reductions of depth in Sea Reach, River Thames, at the entrance of Hole Haven.
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Wrecks. Obstructions. - An amendment to a Preliminary Notice a few weeks earlier to which a reduced depth (down to 3.4m) between the Woodbridge and Orford Havens over a previous obstruction is added.

Local Notices

1. Harwich Haven - Survey Operations – Morgan James 3, Boblin and Pure Chance -
will be carrying out Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) survey and water sampling operations from 01 March 2026 until 25 March 2026, whenever the weather permits.
Morgan James 3 (Callsign: MSKDS)- Between Landguard Point & Blackman’s Head Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) survey and water sampling operations in cross channel transects

2. Harwich Haven - Temporary Deployment of Scientific Equipment ET-2- from 25 - 27 February 2026 scientific equipment will be deployed by the workboat Haven Hornbill (callsign: VSYP7) as follows:

The scientific instruments will stand approximately 1.7m in height above the sea bed. Mariners are advised to navigate with additional caution in this area and pass well clear of the temporary buoys. The equipment and buoys are expected to remain in position until approximately 31 March 2026.

3. Harwich Haven -Pipe Deployment in Copperas Bay - River Stour - As previous notified. Images as above
4. Harwich Haven - Survey and Dredging Operations -
are taking place as follows:

5. River Medway – Upnor Reach - Royal Engineers Training Manoeuvres - Following on from NtoM 05 of 2026 - The Royal School of Military Engineers have provided us with their latest training programme for March. These dates are subject to change. See the list as above.
6. River Medway – Saltpan Reach - Grain LNG Jetty 10 – Anode Installation - Installation of sacrificial anodes to the berth piles by divers is due to take place at the Isle of Grain LNG Jetty 10, work is due to commence 9th March 2026 with completion expected by the end of September 2026. The operation carries significant risk to the team working on the waterline and below the surface along the face and beneath the structure of LNG Jetty 10. Craft involved will be the:
- ‘Avocet’
- ‘Splitmoor
- ‘Liftmoor’
- ‘Patrol’
- ‘Westbourne’
- Small rib tender ‘Retriever’
- All craft will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 74 and display day signals for respective operations. All vessels passing Grain LNG Jetty 10 should navigate with caution, observe the LNG Jetty exclusion zone at all times, reduce speed and minimise wash accordingly.
7. Lowestoft Bascule Bridge Scheduled Maintenance – Overnight Bridge Closures - maintenance is scheduled for Lowestoft Bascule Bridge. This will require overnight Bridge Closures from 2000hrs to 0600hrs as follows:-
Sun 1st to Thurs 5th March – Marine and Road Closure. Bridge lifts may be possible with +12hrs notice, timing subject to schedule of works. No small boat openings, but small boat transits may be permitted if combined with a pre-arranged large commercial vessel opening.
Sun 8th to Thurs 12th March – Full Marine closure. No commercial or small boat openings.
Sun 15th to Thurs 19th March – Full Marine closure. No commercial or small boat openings.
If required/booked in advance, additional small boat openings at 2000hrs and 0600hrs will be accommodated. Should works be completed ahead of time port users will be advised of any dates that restrictions will not be required All vessel operators and owners are requested to carefully consider operational requirements, and to schedule vessel transits outside of the closure periods to avoid potential for delay or disruption. 8. Sizewell Harbour - Temporary Lighting of Marine Works – Marine Bulk Import Facility - the western extremity of the marine piling works of the Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF) detailed in Sizewell C Harbour Notice to Mariners No8 of 2026 have been temporarily marked by a QFl Y light atop the pile in position 52°13’15”N 001° 37’ 49”E. The jack up barge Excalibur will continue piling works eastward until the jetty head installation is completed, upon which permanent navigational marking of the jetty head will be established. Subsequently the Excalibur will resume piling works on the western section of the works between the jetty head piling and the associated terrestrial piling. All of these works will be contained within the Marine Construction Zone (MCZ) as per the chart (see above web page).
9. Raysand Channel – Temporary ‘Special Mark’ Yellow Buoy. - a temporary ‘Special Mark’ yellow buoy with light sequence Fl(Y)5s is to be deployed NE of Raysand North buoy in the following position from 3rd March 2026 until mid-April 2026. 51°41.233 N, 000°59.933 E. The buoy marks a seabed frame containing a current monitoring instrument to provide data to inform water quality modelling for Anglian Water Ltd.
