Notices to Mariners, Week 11

OK, it's a couple of days early but on the basis of the daily notices (I usually use the weekly notices)

Permanent

None for our Area (as defined on the web site)

Temporary

Some Royal Navy survey work in Harwich from 3rd March with all sorts of nice kit.
Harwich Shelf ECB seasonal mark reinstated from on or after last Thursday.

That's it. I'll check that nothing is slipped in on Monday and add it here if it is. Otherwise, clear the M25, we're coming through........

Normal service back on 17th March but I'll try to update on the 10th.

Keep it coming! Not so exotic as you but in less than 2 weeks I will be in the Canaries sitting on the beach or probably more likely at this hour of the day sat by a bar - just to get some shade from the midday sun of course.

Back to the mudane. Weekly notices are published now. Only thing to add is that the Leisure folio 5606 - Thames Estuary, Ramsgate to Tower Bridge will have the 11th edition published on 27th March. That is the folio that does the south side of the estuary. Goes up as far as the West Swin. No other permanent ones.

On temporary, there are a couple from the PLA.

On or around 24 March 2014, the self-propelled crane barge ATLANTIS will be deployed in the area of Sea Reach No 1 Buoy, at the eastern limit of the Yantlet Channel, in order to remove an obstruction on the sea bed. The ATLANTIS will be deploying her retractable legs when on site and will be in a fixed position during the recovery operations, which will normally take place between the hours of 07.00 and 19.00 each day. The ATLANTIS will recover her legs and anchor in the adjacent Zulu anchorages
when not positioned at the recovery (obstruction) site. The recovery operation is expected to take 2 or 3 days, but may take longer. Temporary Buoy Changes: Immediately prior to 24 March, the Port of London Authority (PLA) salvage vessel HOOKNESS will remove both Sea Reach No. 1 North and Sea Reach No. 1 South Buoys from their established positions, in order to provide sufficient sea room for the ATLANTIS to undertake the recovery operation and vessel traffic to pass safely.

A temporary buoy - a Yellow Conical Special Mark (VQk Fl Yellow) - will then be deployed, by the salvage vessel in a position approximately 100m to the east of the obstruction (marked at 12.4m) on the attached chartlet. This temporary buoy will remain in position for the duration of the recovery position.

In commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the 1514 Act of Parliament for regulating watermen, wherrymen and bargemen when King Henry VlIl granted Royal Assent, the Port of London Authority intends to rename Bugsby’s Reach as ‘Waterman’s Reach’ at a ceremony on 18 September 2014.
