UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary Notices
1. New Editions of ADMIRALTY Charts on 19th January, 2023 - Includes changes to depths from the latest British Government, Port of London Authority, and Trinity House surveys.
Chart 1975 England - East Coast, Thames Estuary, Northern Part. 1:50,000
Chart 2052 International Chart Series, England - East Coast, Orford Ness to The Naze. 1:50,000
Chart 1975 is probably one the most important charts for us as it is a chart for that area upon which all others follow. It is going to be sad when it goes as an easy way of comparing trends and changes will be lost - I suppose without a lot of cost.
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depth. - One reduction of depth in the centre of the river at the Woolwich Reach, River Thames. Unlikely to hinder leisure craft.
3. ENGLAND - South East Coast - Depths. - One reduction of depth in the middle of the SW bound TSS west of the Sandettie west cardinal buoy. At 28m, unlikely to hinder leisure craft!
Local - Only a couple of 'late 2022' notices. Obviously no new 2023 local notices yet this year. We can expect a number of authorities to BF a number of repeat Notices in the week to come which are sort of more standing orders than notices.
1. RIVER THAMES - LIMEHOUSE REACH - CANARY WHARF PIER - INSPECTION WORKS - On or about Monday 9th January 2023, marine contractors working on behalf of Canary Wharf Management will be undertaking inspections of Canary Wharf Pier which are expected to take about five nights. To support these works, pontoons and vessels will be moored in various locations on the inside berth at the pier. Contractors will be working daily between the hours of 23:30 to 05:30.
Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY) displayed. River users should be aware that pontoons and workers will be located on the inside of the pier and therefore not visible. Masters of passing vessels should have due regard for the effects of their wash including the possibility of rebound from the river wall and the combined effect of wash from other vessels. The JUMBO will be on station during working hours and maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 14. Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 14 as required.
2. RIVER ORWELL - Babergh Buoy – Back in Assigned Position - the Babergh Buoy has been moved back into its charted position - (
never knew it went awry. Must have missed it!)
That's it. Suddenly the season doesn't look long away.
