1. GRAVESEND REACH TILBURY2 MARINE WORKS - This notice supersedes previous L23 of 2019 - Numerous marine works are underway as part of the TILBURY2 development. Current activities and activities due to commence shortly are summarised on the notice to go to the above page and call up the Temporary list;
2. Harwich Haven - Container Crane Ship Zhen Hua 24 - on or about the 21st of June 2019 (afternoon) the container crane ship Zhen Hua 24 is expected to arrive in Felixstowe with a duration of stay of approximately 7 days. During the transit both inwards and outwards, the Zhen Hua 24 will require a clear channel from the South Shipwash buoy to her berth at Felixstowe.
At all times during her stay there will be cranes on deck in the boom down position extending into the harbour area, please note that the ends of the booms will not be illuminated.
All vessels are requested to give the Zhen Hua 24 as wide a berth as practicable and to pass with minimum wash at all times. Details of crane discharge operations will be broadcast by and obtained from Harwich VTS. Lights and shapes as required by the Collision Regulations will be exhibited and a listening watch on VHF channel 71 will be maintained through the operation.
3. MARKER BUOYS – LIGHTS NOT CURRENTLY WORKING - WEST MERSEA - On Friday 21st June 2019, six yellow marker buoys were deployed in the following locations approximately 500m offshore to the south-east of West Mersea, together with Collector 3 and Collector 6 (two oyster spat collector A-frames that stand 1.2m tall on the seabed): The lights on the marker buoys are currently not working. Trinity House have been made aware of the situation and the Essex Native Oyster Restoration Initiative endeavour to have the problem resolved as soon as possible. In the meantime, mariners are requested to be cautious when near to this location, particularly during hours of darkness.
4. Safe distances within the London Array Offshore Wind farm: A number of different sized cautionary zone are reported: 50m established around each wind turbine and offshore substation platform; a long term 500-meter exclusion zone has been implemented around D20 - (51° 38.024'N 01° 24.612'E) as a precaution until further notice due to a damaged blade. (That is not close to Foulger's Gat; a short term 500-meter exclusion zone has been implemented around C17 - (51° 37.132'N 01° 25.641'E) this location stands in the Foulgers Gat channel and a wide approach is requested; The MPI Adventure will move from WTG to WTG, spending approximately 36-48 hours at each location. When located at a WTG, a 500-meter exclusion zone will be put in place centered on the MPI Adventure; Short term 200-meter exclusion zones will be in place at various locations while MPI Dulcinea and MPI Rucio are carrying out rope access works; The Bokabarge 82, Boka Constructor and NP459 will move from WTG to WTG carrying out cable maintenance works. Whilst operational, and in transit, a 750-meter exclusion zone will be put in place centered on these vessels. • The Katabatic will move from WTG to WTG carrying out diving operations. Whilst operational, and in transit, a 500-meter exclusion zone will be put in place centered on this vessel. ALL VESSELS WISHING TO TRANSIT THROUGH THE LONDON ARRAY WIND FARM SHOULD MONITOR VHF CH16 AND MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO CONTACT LAL VESSELS ON SITE PRIOR TO ANY ENTRY.

Last Tuesday I did a re-survey of the Spitway. Perfect conditions, lovely and flat. The results are that the Spitway is little changed; perhaps the Buxey is creeping to the east. Best water is to the east. Whilst it amounts to nothing more than 0.2m (about 7.5 inches), the shallowest bit (at 1.7m at CD) is the shortest. I have posted a new chartlet on my web site and have included some notes regarding heights of tides and timing. See http://www.crossingthethamesestuary.com/page29.html - second item.
I plan to do the Ray Sand next week, weather permitting.
