Could anyone tell me what is the true position on gas supplies for boats in Norway. Last year I could only get local gas in local bottles with local regulators. I endes up with 5 bottles from 3 countries.
I couldnt get Calor propane bottles filled. Is camping gaz available in refillable bottles? Normally propane is preferred in Norway as butane doesnt work in cold weather.

a couple of years ago I went from Suffolk to Bergen via Shetland and needed three changes of gas system!!! There seemed to be no Camping Gaz in Bergen, or Calor, and to make it worse the Norwegians appeared to have a different system north of Bergen to the one south. I ended up buying a regulator and a new bottle in Bergen - about 50 quid. I think it's still around here somewhere

Just pick up your question on Norwegain Gas. As you say Propane is used mostly in their campers. On boats Meths. Redspirit or paraffin (lamp oil) is used alot. The type of connection I not sure about. When I was in the UK I had a spirit stove and still have over here.

You can get camping gaz at any hardware shop round here (Kristiansund). These are the blue 3kg bottles with a female thread. Otherwise you need a new regulator for the 5kg propane bottles (usually from Statoil garages).

We were told that you could not buy Camping Gaz in Denmark. In fact we found it just about everywhere, but without the labels. Clearly recognisable by the moulded name in the top of the cylinder, but not actually Camping Gaz. Fittings looked to be unchanged.
