Mmmn, not the only one having problems with his passage plan. Looking at the long range forecast I'm reckoning South Westerlies f3/4. The tidal drift through Bardsey is going to hold me up until it sets North West at approx mid afternoon Saturday and then a punch against a foul tide taking care to avoid tripods and other overfalls - thats going to slow me down.

I reckon I should arrive round about the time that Kawasaki gets up ever so slowly from his seat in the corner of the Ty Coch and walks to the bar and says (ever so quietly)....."My round - anyone else want one?"

.....and if there's any justice in the world, Dave Snelson will be one step behind me with a raging red wine thirst /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

THEN he'll start to feel the effects of the credit crunch! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorted. Can't we skip over that little bit of green stuff after the MB if there is plenty of water about, and then go along the coast

[/ QUOTE ]

That is what I aim to do early Saturday morning.

It's quite a bay on the left at the top of the Lleyn Peninsula. Following the coast will take you quite a bit out of the way. I usually aim to hit the land just past the Rivals & then the sticky out bit with the Golf Course on it reminds me when to park. But, as I said, I won't be there this time! DOH.

You take me to literally. Cut across the sands at highish water and then straight line to the pub. Saves having to go around the Grampian Castle.

SWMBO (and me if im honest) fancy going along that coastline purely because we have never seen it before. Always nice to take a few new piccies.

If I time it right should I be able to take a route something like the one indicated on the chart?

Thanks.

That's a Smart map Takey!
What's all them No.s about and why does the Sea go white further out?
I,ll have to go on a Course someday.
Yer, last time I went there the Sea was the same colour all the way, Weird /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anyway being 'Boat Boy' to the likes of MajorCatastrophe and hlb I thought You guys would have pity on Me!

Glad Searush can't come , I Do owe Him a Pint.
Little Ship, oops, I owe Him one---maybe several hactually.
Anyway my tender is faster than His Mother Ship so I can skiddadle when He aint lookin.
Anyway Raven will be Too tired to drink after His epic Voyage from Porthmadoc (That's if the Sand Demons don't jump out at Him) Why do these Raggies do it?

Anyway Snelson will be saturated with Red wine so that's no prob!

Anyway I don't mind buying a Half for Take 5.
Well I doubt He'll find it anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yeah, I've taken a photo of my PC screen so I can take it with me. May be a bit small on the little Canon LCD, but it beats the AA map I usually use to navigate with.

I'll tell you a little story about the last time I went there. Mer and a mate tied to a buoy. Then two three masted training ships came in. We went to the pub, looked at all the pictures of the sea coming in the front door, then out the back.

So we sat there all day and into the night, crew of the training ships on the next table. Crew gets a call from the ship, to get back smartly. So off they went. We stayed to the close, then staggard down the beach. We kept throwing the dinghy in the water, but the sea kept chucking it back. Eventually we got to the boat which was heaving and thrutching. Looked around and every one had gone, just the mast of the skooners in the distance. Got on the radio to see what was happening, but could not raise the coast guards. Eventually the woman captain of the traiing ship came on and told me the weather had changed. I asked a bit more, but was told in no uncertain turms. Every Captain has to make his own decisions. So that was that, we bounced around and stayed awake all night. Then there was the return round Bardsey, but thats another story.

Too early to worry about yet but metcheck is giving nw winds up to 12 mph for next weekend - not what you want if you are hoping for a quiet night in Port Dinllaen.

Incidentally, I was talking to a good friend of mine who has arranged loads of boaty meets up and down the coast and he tells me that it is definitely re-rigour for the organiser to gather everyone together, say a few words and buy them a drink as a sort of thank-you for coming type of thing.

Now I dont know about anyone else but I'm not too bothered about the few words bit, but I sincerely hope you will be observing the other time-honoured traditions referred to above - I should hate anyone to think that the North Wales branch of the YBW forum didnt know how to conduct themselves proper like! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This has to be the most intelligent post I have ever read on here.

Count us in. I see the kwack has already started to disguise himself by having his hair cut to avoid being seen at the bar. Next he will be buying a bottle of after shave.

Aha! I think you have it about right. What with our tidal plotting yesterday (more work to be done on this) we should be pitching up at the T Coch at about the same time. I recommend we maintain radio silence on the approach so that the raid on Kwaka's wallet comes as a complete surprise. You can see the Queen blinking in the daylight when he opens that wallet ya know.

Anyway, I will be setting off on Sat afternoon, filling up (again /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ) in Peeeewilly and then getting there about tea time.

So its watch the weather time this week.

Just so long as you avoid the Wreck. The same wreck that one of our raggie friends from MYC bumped into a couple of years ago /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

No names, no pack drill.

Mind you, local legend has it that the wreck was formerly owned by Ka...... Oops, not allowed to say just in case this thread gets pulled by IPC!

A surveillance operation has been set up at PD to make sure there isn't an "I'm sorry, I've left my wallet in my car" incident.

Kwacker................ seems these guys know you. I think the Major has been telling stories of how difficult your wallet is to find. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Glad I only promised "Pink Gin" /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
