is a minefield of poorly marked pot's - anything from 1 gallon plastic cans to tiny little buoys. Often they have at least a couple of metres of floating rope streaming in the tide. an accident waiting to happen imho........

On the other hand, I noticed last week just off clacton really well marked pots - black and bright orange flags about 2m high - difficult to miss.

About 8 weeks ago - sailing off clacton pier - I too saw the well marked pots - big flag - unfortunatly black -
still almost ran it down though - oops.
My fault as pot was well marked - people have to make a living - the restaurants want the local shellfish - there must be a compromise somewhere

Returning to Harwich from Ramsgate in bad visabilty via Black Deep & Sunk Head Tower we came across four very badly marked L pots around Medusa Buoy.
one to starboard had a black flag on, the other three to port of Medusa were 5ltr white cans. Not good when you are sailing in driving rain.

Shouldn't that be "easy to miss!"
