Totnes , Devon, town council has announced that the town will not be celebrating Trafalgar 200 next year as they do not want to upset the French! How PC can you get?

Didn't see the French objecting to celebrating the D'day landings when we saved the buggers from the Germans so why should they object when we celebrate beating them? But then they farmers down in Totnes prob'ly int'rested in keeping they common agricultural policy m'dear........ Or pr'aps think it's a Cornish plot.....

They will have warships and tall ships at the Portsmouth events so what flavour of council is Totnes

I'm looking for the people of Totnes to rise to a leader who proclaims "I see no objections" and celebrate it anyway.

BTW What happened to the idea of Trafalgar Day being a public holiday?

No farmers in Totnes just people in kaftans from Dartington.

Re: Portsmouth Spin

If you've ever visited the bayeux tapestry you'll know there is a lot of comment which claims that william was entitled to rule england. they don't make too many bones about napoleon's imperial ambitions either.
